AI Game Atlas has a small role-playing game built into the site. Monsters wander out while you read, chests hide along the way, and five lair bosses guard the main pages. Everything below comes straight from the game's live settings.
How to play
- Turn on Adventure Mode with the switch on the game bar. Turn it off any time to read in peace; the game never covers what you are reading.
- Monsters come out while you read. A new one appears every 45–90 seconds, sooner on articles and game pages, and reading deeper into an article can wake one at once. At most 4 per page.
- Click or tap a monster to strike. Each weapon has its own speed; clicking faster than the weapon swings does nothing.
- Dodge. Before it attacks, a monster marks the ground with a ring. Move your pointer out of it. On a phone, press Guard when the edge of the screen glows.
- Health returns on its own a few seconds after a fight. Draughts in your flask heal at once. If you fall, you are a ghost for 3 minutes: no fights or chests until you return.
- Chests wait at the roadside, in lairs and in the footer. Open them for gold, gear and keepsakes. Some need a key, a level, or a signed-in adventurer.
Monsters
47 kinds of monster in 9 families: Humanoid, Beast, Undead, Demon, Titan / Construct, Elemental, Void, Dragon, Ocean. Each appears at a level close to yours: usually the same, sometimes a little lower, and now and then up to 3 levels higher. Higher monsters hit harder and pay more: +12% XP for each level above you (up to four) and better item levels. Monsters below you give 20% less XP per level, never less than 20%.
The rarer the monster, the better its spoils:
| Tier | How often | From level | Health | Damage | XP | Drop chance | Rare and better |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Normal | 74% | 1 | ×1 | ×1 | ×1 | ×1 | ×1 |
| Tough | 18% | 1 | ×1.5 | ×1.1 | ×1.4 | ×1.25 | ×1.5 |
| Elite | 6% | 12 | ×2.6 | ×1.25 | ×2.6 | ×1.6 | ×2.5 |
| Mini boss | 2% | 15 | ×5.5 | ×1.45 | ×6 | ×2.2 | ×4 |
Defeating the same kind of monster many times in one day pays less XP; variety pays.
Weapons
| Weapon | Power at Lv.1 | Strikes per second | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fists | 8 | 1.8 | Always with you. Weak, but never out of breath. |
| Sword | 11 | 1.8 | Even and reliable. Strikes in a bright arc. |
| Dagger | 7.5 | 2.6 | The fastest blade, +8% critical chance; weaker against heavy foes. Two quick slashes. |
| Hammer | 17 | 1.1 | Slow and crushing: ignores 25% of armour, ×1.2 against constructs. Lands with a shockwave. |
| Axe | 15.2 | 1.3 | Heavy cleaves for big hits. A wide, burning arc. |
| Spear | 10.5 | 1.9 | Quick thrusts that ignore 15% of armour. |
| Bow | 11 | 1.6 | Arrows arrive before the monster can close in; weaker against heavy foes. |
| Staff | 14 | 1.4 | Uses mana, not stamina. A slow, strong spell that bursts like an orb. |
| Wand | 8.5 | 2.3 | Uses mana. Fast little sparks. |
| Engineer weapon | 12 | 1.6 | ×1.25 against constructs and against wards. Crackles with an electric arc. |
| Relic weapon | 12.5 | 1.7 | Ancient and balanced; strikes leave a golden rune. |
Weapon power grows with item level and rarity (a Relic hits 1.45× as hard as a Common of the same level). Critical hits are capped at 35% chance and ×2 damage.
Loot and rarity
Gear comes in six rarities. From a roadside chest:
| Common | Uncommon | Rare | Epic | Mythic | Relic |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 55% | 28% | 11% | 4.5% | 1.3% | 0.2% |
Rare chests, boss hoards and vaults roll better. Bad luck does not last: after 20 rolls without a Rare or better, the next one is guaranteed; Epic by 50, Mythic by 120, Relic by 300. Gear you do not need can be salvaged for Collection Dust.
Levels
XP comes from monsters (most of it), chests, secrets, landmarks and reading. Levelling is a long road:
| Reach level | 5 | 10 | 20 | 30 | 40 | 50 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Total XP | 2,955 | 17,630 | 110,725 | 347,725 | 831,200 | 1,747,790 |
At levels 20, 30, 40 and 50 the road is sealed by a Breakthrough Trial: a few deeds to prove yourself before the next stretch opens.
Lair bosses
Five bosses guard the main pages. They are the hardest fights on the Atlas: only a level-50 adventurer with a true weapon can break their mantle, and even then the fight is won only in the best gear and with near-perfect dodging. Their blows grow with your health.
